Next Golden Sun – DS or Wii?

So which console do you want the next Golden Sun game to come out on (if they make one)? More than likely it will be either the Nintendo DS, or Wii, but which one will be right for the next installment in the series? Personally, I think that the Wii would be great with the motion control, but I don’t think that It would work to well going around the over world all the time with just motion control. On the DS, I’d like it on there because obviously it’s portable, and you can take it wherever you want, and I think that the controls would lend themselves perfectly to the DS. I personally think the DS would be a better choice, but either way, you still get a new Golden Sun game out of the deal.

  1. I’d say that…
    It’ll probably be on DS
due the the 2nd screen, great for dungeons and stuff
And also, the stylus is easier to draw things with, such as moving things with psynergy/using psynergy

  2. I’d definitely want it on the Wii, not only would that allow a bigger and more detailed world but I think the Wii-mote compliments how Golden Sun is played (not to mention that I don’t have a DS either…) and it’d be interesting what they do with it. Not to mention that the Wii is suffering from having a trickle of hardcore games and only a few RPGS (Tales of SYmphonia seems like the only BIG one so far)

  3. Even though I agree with Pankration that there should be more big time RPGs for the Wii, I don’t think that Golden Sun should be one. Golden Sun was so amazing as a handheld and I think that it should continue being one. It was a beautiful game for a being a handheld, far surpassing many DS games that are out right now. If they could bring the same quality on the DS standards, Golden Sun 3 would be truly gorgeous.

  4. who thinks
    Isaac
    Garet
    Ivan
    Mia
    shuld be the playable characters

  5. what would really be amazing would be a two part Golden Sun 3, with one game on the DS and one on the Wii, you could play as the protagonists on one and the antagonists on the other, maybe the developers could find some way to have the data from each game influence events in the other. if that’s too epic of scale to be doable, im sure they could find new and innovative psynergies that involve either the motion control of the Wii or the “drawing” (touch pad) of the DS.

i just hope they don’t mess with the formula and introduce something like real-time battles.

(i so hope people from Camelot eavesdrop on sites like this for ideas)

  6. I really doubt they would use the same exact party again D: But here I am hoping Felix will still be playable if they even make another installment.

I’m kinda going both ways. I really want to see Golden Sun on the Wii, mostly cause I’m really curious on how they would design it and stuff. Also I wanna see Felix in 3D :]

    The DS would be awesome too, only…I would have to spend more nonexistent money to get one…^^;

  7. Ultimately, I wouldn’t mind it either way. I only see pro’s on either system.

    Wii GS3:

    - world would be 3D and richly detailed
    - possibly longer
    - music would be AWESOME on Wii, better quality + orchestrated
    - SUMMONS.

    DS GS3:

    - similar game mechanics to what we love, less risky
    - touch screen for psynergy, puzzles, etc. (drool)
    - portable
    - still would be amazing

I think I’d prefer Wii though, a new direction would be cool for the series. It would be riskier that DS though. Wi-Fi battle rooms on either system would be great!

  8. I think it should be on DS, because it’s a turn based game, and moving would really be the only thing that the Wii mote would be useful for, unless they made it for the actual controller for the Wii

  9. I think it should be on the DS because it was a handheld game before and it should stay that way
i agree with daftmonk about the puzzles it would be awesome like trying to get the summon you should try to figure out a puzzle and the psynergy would be cool
on the WII it wouldn’t be right how would you play how will you make like smash bros it wouldn’t look right
but i think it should be made on the DS peace

  10. Hey Alex (that’s my name too, :P ), I think that the series would remain what it actually has been, at least style-wise, for some time: a mix between anime and 3D, with a slight inclination towards 3D. It wouldn’t look like the Tales series, I know that. They could pull it off on Wii.

  11. Ok….wii definantly. Of course the graphics would be better and thats the main thing im thinking. All of you people against the wii are saying movment would be bad….thats not true. Almost everygame on the wii does not use the wii remote to move. You use the nunchuck. Wii is in way more need of games than ds. Plus would be cooler.

  12. why not on both so we don’t have to argue
but i still think it will be better off on the ds

  13. I think it would be better on the DS because how could you transfer your save data over to the new game. Plus you can still have good music and graphics on the DS as well as the Wii. And it would be nice to be able to play with all of the characters from the two previous games. Heres to looking forward to a 2009 anouncment of the games production, please….

  14. I think it should be on the DS I agree with everyone saying that it should stay a handheld. Also if it was on the Wii it would be ok but it would be best with the DS because the would be able to use the toch screen and stylus to draw where to put something if using the power move, etc.

I also hope they come out with new people but be able to at least visit the old characters. They could even do it how they did The Lost Age and be able to switch through the people, but the should only do the main people from lost age and new people. Example: be able to switch between Felix, Jenna, Sheba, Piers and new people. Maybe they could even have the wise appear and help them in some way.

What i am saying is that i hope when they make the new game that it’s on DS and not Wii but i have seen pics of both Guys

  15. I think it would be good on either system, but my secret desire is for it to be on the PS or something, at least a less experimental console. The DS stylus and Wii movement controls are new and exciting, but they drive game-makers into a corner. The RPG’s that make it through the massive programming requirements are few and far between, and they often lack the sheer massiveness of their ancestors.

Golden Sun had a lengthy story packed with puzzles, and they could do that with their budget only because the combat was incredibly simple to program. If another GS game were to come out now, so much money would go into the stylus/vertigo effects the content of the game would suffer.

I mean, everybody agrees that Pokemon yellow had the best storyline of them all because the developers had such low standards to meet for the pictures and controls.

  16. DS

  17. i think golden sun 3 should be on ds because it was on hand held besides wii is like for puzzle games puzzles its a good consle but ds is better and it is more cheaper than a wii soo i would b so happy all the golden suns is on handheld so it sould stay that way and part 3 is gonna have good graphics because of nintendo my opinion is to keep it on hand held

  18. being a hardcore nintendo fan, i would love to see it on either or, as long as they release it soon.

anyway, i can see positives with both, but i can also see negatives with the Wii, which i cant see in the DS…

think about it, Smash Bros killed a lot of peoples dreams when Isaac (or Robin, depending where your from) looked really bad… whereas the 2D cartoon like sprites will forever work.

It would be fun to use either the touch screen or motion sensors to use new and old psynergies (push the wii mote forward to use move, for example, or draw a quick circle around yourself on the touch screen to use cyclone)

most of all though, i’m looking forward to the new storyline… and enevitably demolishing Alex at the end of the game with my perfectly balanced party.

i would also love to have a more in depth basis for world psynergies… eg, failing at teleporting and ending up somewhere you didnt plan to revisit (can anyone go for another trip to crossbone isle?)

at the same time though, they already exhausted Dullahan as the ultimate boss… where can they go from him? unless for some reason you had the opportunity to fight summons themselves! (just imagine taking on old classics like Judgement and Catastrophe!)

anyway, i’m more speculating overall now, but personally, i would love to see it on the DS… and the DS would make transfering easier (take data from the GBA cartrage and put it straight to DS)

anyway, thats it for my piece!

  19. Yeah, I think that the DS is a less risky choice if Camelot does make a new game. I think the graphics would still be great, and plus, It’s Golden Sun, so people would be happy with whatever they can get. :D

  20. wow i do hope this game does come out. i remember when i was 12 years old. i had so much fun. hours and hours of playtime. i had trouble beating it for some reason. at that age i was able to beat every game i had but this specific one at that age i couldnt. embarasment i know =..=
i just started it again when i found it after 8 years it was in my pocket which is now my younger brother’s pants. really surprized it still works after all the washes and w/e.
