Military nation conducting secret maneuvers – Tsaparang.
A mysterious country that excels in science and military power. For some reason, its commander contacts Matthew & Co.
They appear in many places, and seem to be making use of Matthew & Co.

Commanders of Tsaparang:
Spade: A warlike swordsman with “sword” as his name that stands in front of Matthew & Co.
Heart: A commander of Tsaparang. She gets close to important person of other countries using her bewitching beauty as her weapon.

Most of this media and info (except the scans) are coming out of Nintendo’s new Japanese Golden Sun site, which is (*gasp*) updating nearly daily! So check it out!

As well as the luscious 3D graphics, new gameplay features include the ability to respond with different emotional reactions to various scenarios in the game, with your choice of emotion having an impact on the replies you receive from other characters you meet. If you choose a “gutsy” reply for Matthew during a tense moment, other characters may get annoyed that you’re not taking the situation seriously. Choose an “angry” reply, though, and you might find that they respond confrontationally in turn…

As for the battle scenarios, three rounds full of standard attacking, item usage, defending and magic casting (using the power of characters’ Psynergy or support from the Djinni helpers that can be equipped during the adventure) was the order of the day, with your team facing off against all manner of strange creatures. Rather than being individuals, though, various classes of enemy were grouped together to help the team focus on particularly tough foes. One of the major annoyances levelled at the previous two games was how when a monster had been defeated, rather than the rest of your team intelligently moving on to attack something else, they would simply skip their turn, which proved amazingly frustrating during very tough fights later in the adventure. Thankfully now it seems like this problem has been rectified after listening to user feedback. Other than that, the battle mechanic was of the standard fare, with each character in the party taking a turn to attack before the enemy retaliated. Following the three encounters, each increasing in difficulty yet not proving to be particularly testing in all honesty, the demo ended by allowing for limited access to a village area, giving a general feel to the more sedate side of Dark Dawn.

When I encountered enemies I could strike with a regular attack, cast psyenergy spells like Ragnarok or call a Djinni for help. Matthew was imbued with earth Djinn, which gave him abilities like Flint, a stone cleaving blow. Karis’ wind Djinn allowed her to cast Gust, a wind spell that may strike twice, and waft, a sleep spell. Terrell had fire Djinn with Fever, a spell that deluded enemies, and Torch, a fire attack.

I don’t know if it is the exact day or not, but it is June of 2010 and Golden Sun Complete has officially been around for a tremendous 3 years. Now we may have missed posts celebrating our other birthdays, but a third anniversary deserves at least a post, right?

As I’m sure most of you know, Golden Sun Complete isn’t the biggest or fanciest blog on the net. We are just hosted straight from WordPress.com with a theme that is about as old as the site, and we only have 35 posts up. Still, we have become the go-to blog for only Golden Sun news whether it be past, present, or future. We have become the number one search result in Google when searching “Golden Sun news”, and over time we have added an author, and amassed over 500,000 unique hits.

This was one of the first endeavors that I had ever started, blogging about a game that I had piked up and had a shit ton of fun playing. It went from posting little cheats and hints to speculating about the recently announced Golden Sun for the Nintendo DS. Along the way I have created my own company called SlackrMedia, where I run my gaming site Default Prime, as well as many other projects such as the Network of Mashes and SlackrThemes. You can, of course check out all of those links in the sidebar, but all of that has spawned from this blog.

I would also like to take this time to thank our other author on the site, Daft Monk, for all of his hard work in keeping up with news and all of that good stuff. I have been busy with the other websites that I run, as well as with all of that lame school work that I’ve been doing.

So I think that will about cover it for this post. Thank you everybody that has visited the site, commented, and of course the authors behind it all. It’s 2010, we have a new Golden Sun game on the horizon, and maybe a new Golden Sun Complete. Who knows?

It’s Always Darkest Before the Dawn

A classic role-playing game branches out with a new look, countless adventures and heroic battles. The game picks up 30 years after the first two games in the series left off. At the end of Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the heroes succeeded in bringing the world-healing power of the Golden Sun back to the world of Weyard. In the years since, the immense power of the Golden Sun has changed nearly everything. Continents have shifted. New countries have emerged. New species have appeared. But the world is now imperiled by a new threat. Psynergy Vortexes, which suck the elemental Psynergy from both the land and power-wielding Adepts alike, are spreading across the world.
